Luis Homero Beltrán Vargas

Quiteño, scholar of Ecuadorian folklore, researcher, member, choreographer, dancer and coordinator of several folk dance and Latin American music groups since 1972; actor in theater groups since 1965, master of ceremonies and conductor of artistic shows.

President in various periods of the Association of Professional Artists of Pichincha (1994-1996, 1996-1998, 2004-2006, 2006-2008 and 2008-2009).

In 1999 he was appointed Vice President of BLADA (Latin American Actors Block) in Mexico, an organization of the International Federation of Actors, a position he held until 2001.

Vice President of the National Federation of Professional Artists of Ecuador (2006-2008).

Founder and current Executive President of the Society of Artists, Performers and Performing Musicians of Ecuador SARIME Luis Beltrán.

He has held the position of Professor of Aesthetic Culture in several educational institutions and is the General Director of the BALLET DE ECUADOR DE LUIS BELTRAN since 1989, Official Page; Official Facebook page Ballet that was declared by the national press «Person of the year, for its contribution to culture» and «one of the most prestigious dance groups in the country» (Diario La Hora-January 2, 2005).

He has received several awards from national and international organizations for his research and dissemination of Ecuadorian cultures and defense of the interests of the national artistic class, among the most important of which are:

“National Decoration for First Class Cultural Merit” awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Agreement No. 5812-28.Nov.97).

“Labor Merit Prize” awarded by the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources (Agreement No. 251-Apr.30.98).

«For Cultural Merit» awarded on two occasions by the H. National Congress of Ecuador (Oct 26, 93 and Nov 21, 95).

“Prize for First Class Directorial Merit” awarded by the General Assembly of the Association of Professional Artists of Pichincha.

Newark N.J. City Council Decoration USA, for the work defending the rights of Ecuadorian artists (Aug 26, 2003).

“HONORABLE MEMBER OF THE IBERO-AMERICAN FORUM OF THE ARTS” award granted by the Ibero-Latin American Federation of Artists FILAIE (Oct. 7, 2003).

HERCO Productions Corp. Award (Newark, N.J. USA) “For support of Ecuadorian art” (Aug. 18, 2011).

He received the investiture of DOCTOR “HONORIS CAUSA” in Arts Sciences and HONORARY AMBASSADOR of the World Academy of Human Sciences (Nov. 13, 2019)
